Although it was not
normal that I would offer 'every accessory on the shelf,'
it was highly promoted by my supervisor, and he would often
ask us after a sale individually about each item to see why
the customer could or could not purchase it.
-
I purposely downplayed
the functionality of most of the accessories.
-
It is true that we
were at one time discouraged to sell games without accessories
because they drove down accessory percentages.
-
One rule of selling,
which was told to us many times at meetings is to start with
the high priced items, and then move to lesser and lesser
items until you meet with the customers price range; so it
was true when I stated that I was told to sell the Sony brand
controller over the generic ones.
-
My view on generic
memory cards is that most of them are crap and luckily I didn't
mention any brand names.
-
Most of the
time when focusing on Monster Cables, I was told to ask if
customers had a decent television/receiver that would benefit
from them.
-
The DVD Remote really
is not for lazy people. Technically, yes, the controller does
do the same functions, but who really wants to be limited
by a cord? If I owned a Playstation 2, I would own a DVD Remote.
-
The carrying case
is not useless either. It is good for kids who transport their
system often.
-
My personal opinion
is that the stands are pretty much useless. But they do look
pretty.

Yes, supervisors did
fill out CSE's (Customer Service Evaluations) while trying
to be out of sight. There were even times that they were caught
watching sales from the security cameras in the front of the
store, and then rating performance without even being able
to hear any part of the conversation.
